The Lord shall revive and bring justice

I rise before the dawning of the morning,

And cry for help;

I hope in Your word.

My eyes are awake through the night watches,

That I may meditate on Your word.

Hear my voice according to Your lovingkindness;

O Lord, revive me according to Your justice.

They draw near who follow after wickedness;

They are far from Your law.

You are near, O Lord,

And all Your commandments are truth.

Concerning Your testimonies,

I have known of old that You have founded them forever.

Psalms 119:147-152

The Wait ….brings destiny

But those who wait on the Lord

Shall renew their strength;

They shall mount up with wings like eagles,

They shall run and not be weary,

They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,

To the soul who seeks Him.

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly

For the salvation of the Lord. (Lamentations 3:25,26)

Wait, the very word seems to carry its own heaviness, weight if you like. For many this is a season we find ourselves in. Feeling led or forced out of previous work or ministries or relationships, and in to a place where little clarity exists, other than to wait…wait on the Lord. For He is birthing a new movement, and season, and it needs us to come aside to Him. He also needs to deal with that which He has drawn us out of.

Often this word wait also seems to come back in to our face when we pursue the Lord in prayer. For the answer seems to often be, ‘all good things come to those who wait”! And finally, it was one of the great commands of our Lord Jesus, to wait on His return, watching with earnest passion as if He comes tomorrow, and yet it may not be for many years. How can such a wait be possible.

In the end, such waiting is an act of faith, and by the Lord’s grace, with hope. Hanging in there, patiently dealing with the uncertainty and pain, by leaning closing in to the Lord there is a beautiful act of love and faith. It may not seem like it at the time, and often the challenge is to hold on not to give up, and yet somehow, we can wait. There is a clue to the importance of ‘waiting on the Lord’, in the word itself.

When we look in to the original Hebrew word for wait, we see an interesting picture unfold.

Original Word: קָוָה

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: qavah

Phonetic Spelling: (kaw-vaw’)

The meaning is simply translated ‘to wait upon or for, and yet the word also speaks of binding together (perhaps by twisting), gathering together, to expect, patiently, tarry, look/watch, wait on.

So while we see the ‘wait’ and ‘tarry’ emerge, also we see the curious sense that this is about being entwined, gathering together, with expectancy. So, as we wait on the Lord, we are being further drawn in to Him, entwined deeper in to His heart, and together with Him we can wait. It would also suggest it is good to wait together with others. In this waiting we draw in to the presence of God, and so His power.

The essential need for waiting then becomes more apparent, for it is this time we come closer to God, and with each other (when we are waiting on something together). This blessing coming as we set our heart on God and look to Him. The Lord Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God, and to love each other, and by waiting together on the Lord we very much obey this command and access its power for love.

The start of the church came as the apostles and disciples followed the command to wait.

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49)

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1:4,5)

And while the original Greek words for tarry (english version ‘kathizo’) and wait (eng. ‘perimeno’), certainly carry extra depth to these words, with senses of wait, patient, tarry, wait in a place, dwell, be present, remand, steadfast, about, to settle, hover, set apart, in the round, around, sit, settled (its done), it is the action of these apostles that reveals the deeper meaning. For they to waited together on the Lord, in the round (all equal), and were drawn closer together, and in to the heart of God. It was surely the intent of our Lord Jesus when He said ‘wait’.

And here is the deep mystery of this command. For in the waiting we are accessing the ancient word of God, this eternal word still being declared by His creation, and speaks of His destiny for all creation, and His love for us, the hope we have in Him, and His act that brings us in to true rest. Consider these verses.

‘The heavens declare the glory of God;

And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Day unto day utters speech,

And night unto night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech nor language

Where their voice is not heard.

Their line[sound] has gone out through all the earth,

And their words to the end of the world’. (Psalm 19:1-4)

‘But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed:

“Their sound has gone out to all the earth,

And their words to the ends of the world.”’ (Romans 10:18)

The word in the ancient Hebrew word ‘qav’ translated to ‘line’, and also ‘sound’, points also to the wait of the Lord.

qav: line

Original Word: קַו

Transliteration: qav

Phonetic Spelling: (kav)

Definition: line

This word has as it roots the words for wait (‘qavah’), with the binding together by twisting, collect, expect, wait, look, tarry; and, ‘qaveh’, a measuring line, cord, a musical string or accord, line, and rule. And thus, speak of a line that is created by the sound of His word when considering the context of the verses, and this Paul’s reference to it in Romans.

Therefore, as we wait, we also position ourselves to hear the words and sounds that go out like lines, and thus as we listen entwine us to the heart of God and what He speaks to us. As Paul so bluntly points out in Romans, all creation declaring these words, so we are without excuse. These words speak of God creativity, His desire for us to dwell with Him, of the Light and darkness, of fruitfulness, and diversity, and that through the Son of Man we can find true rest in God. This is most definitely the simplified version of the greater depth this word which has been speaking since the beginning of creation…when it is written that the Lord said, “Let there be…”. The words carry the same creative power that they did as the formation of the worlds, and so as we wait we hear them, and access their potential.

Simply put, these words of God go out, and as we wait on the Lord we begin to hear them,  and they draws us in to Him and each other…with the potential for great creative power. Is it any wonder we are asked to wait on Him, for then we draw nearer to Him, hear His heart, and He empowers for destiny?

2019 | His Word Revealed

Psalms 19

The Perfect Revelation of the Lord

The heavens declare the glory of God;

And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Day unto day utters speech,

And night unto night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech nor language

Where their voice is not heard.

Their line has gone out through all the earth,

And their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,

Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

Its rising is from one end of heaven,

And its circuit to the other end;

And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;

The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;

The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

More to be desired are they than gold,

Yea, than much fine gold;

Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

Moreover by them Your servant is warned,

And in keeping them there is great reward.

Who can understand his errors?

Cleanse me from secret faults.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;

Let them not have dominion over me.

Then I shall be blameless,

And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight,

O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

He bowed the heavens

Psalms 18:9-12

He bowed the heavens also, and came down

With darkness under His feet.

And He rode upon a cherub, and flew;

He flew upon the wings of the wind.

He made darkness His secret place;

His canopy around Him was dark waters

And thick clouds of the skies.

From the brightness before Him,

His thick clouds passed with hailstones and coals of fire.

2019 : The Birth of the Witnessing Church

Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth. And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner. These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire. (Revelation 11:1-6)

The Lord Jesus is birthing a new prophetic movement in His Church, one that prepares her for His return, and readies humankind for His reign on earth.

As in the days of His servants Hannah (1 Samuel 1:9-20), and Elizabeth (Luke 1), He has raised up those intercessors who birth such a move. These are carved in anguish, and yet have a deep love for God, and through them God will birth such a prophetic child. This year (2019) sees the birth of the forerunners of this movement, who prepare for the millennial reign. These are given the anointings of Elijah and David, the prophet and the king.

The Great Day of God

“For behold, the day is coming,

Burning like an oven,

And all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble.

And the day which is coming shall burn them up,”

Says the Lord of hosts,

“That will leave them neither root nor branch.

But to you who fear My name

The Sun of Righteousness shall arise

With healing in His wings;

And you shall go out

And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

You shall trample the wicked,

For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet

On the day that I do this,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

“Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,

Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,

With the statutes and judgments.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

And he will turn

The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” (Malachi 4)

Of this movement none has been before, and this is not a person, rather a body of people. Until this time there has been a drought of the word of God, and now comes a widespread revelation of God, turning the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the children’s hearts to their fathers. Healing comes to family, and with great signs and wonders the fear of God will come to many, and yet there are those who will hide their faces from the Lord.

As those called to intercede for the return of Christ arise, so to this witnessing church comes forth and shakes the earth and mankind. The Lord also purifying His bride with the baptism of fire.

“So bare down Elizabeths, trust in Me”, says the Lord, “for birth comes soon, and great is the work the child will do preparing for the King of Glory. This child will decrease that the King will increase, for the whole of creation groans for His return.”

Of those finding themselves leading in this movement, they are firstly servants of the King, and all who serve Him. Looking only to Him, and blessed with the anointing and callings of apostle, prophet, evangelist, teacher, and pastor, and given the Shepherds heart, they honour all, preferring others, and seek to see all believers know their Head is Christ Jesus alone, no other, and by the Holy Spirit they are led, no other, and certainly not themselves. Called to see the royal priesthood of believers rise up in to the ekklesia, seated in the council of God, with the fear of God, and on bended knee, only out of obedience to their Lord, do these lead. Not seeking their own honour, but only to glorify the King of kings, Christ Jesus.

And often heard in this new movement of God is, ‘who is the leader?’ For this is a selfless generation of God, who know there is but One leader, and understand that those who know Him are all sons and daughters of the Father.

And now the birthing begins…

Prayer Alert re Volcanoes and Quakes

Be on alert and in intercession for those places the Lord has on your heart, and sound the alarm as He gives breath. The groanings of the earth are in a season of increase at the moment as structures are tested, and pressure builds.

Volcanoes in Indonesia and Italy, quakes in the South Pacific, South East Asia, China, North and South America, and Russia, are but a few signs of this. Sense a major quake is brewing, may be even two, by the mercy and grace of God let the preparation and protection come in due time.

Some recent eruptions that have escalated:

Anak (child of) Krakatau:

Mount Etna:

We need to be wise as we watch what the Lord reveals, to pray against disaster or to warn as did Ezekiel and Agabus in the Bible. Let us not be distracted by media hype, but be led by the Spirit of God, and the intercession of Christ.

The Twelve Days of Christmas – Day 12 – The Son of the Righthand of God, and Jerusalem is His throne

He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:32-33)

So he (Simeon) came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the Child Jesus, to do for Him according to the custom of the law, he took Him up in his arms and blessed God and said:

“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace,

According to Your word;

For my eyes have seen Your salvation

Which You have prepared before the face of all peoples,

A light to bring revelation to the Gentiles,

And the glory of Your people Israel.”

And Joseph and His mother marveled at those things which were spoken of Him. (Luke 2:27-33)

The Twelve Days of Christmas, why that number? The old familiar fun Christmas carol always comes to mind when you think of this phrase, and was no doubt based on Christmas advent traditions, usually starting actually on Christmas Day, counting forward to the Epiphany celebration. However it still makes you wonder, well it did me. The path that was followed was that of looking at the insight the Twelve tribes of Israel and the Twelve Apostles of Christ revealed. The tribes (Reuben through to Benjamin) a type of government defined by God as an inheritance to Jacob, his father Isaac, and grandfather Abraham (the so called father of nation). The Twelve Apostles (Peter through to Judas Iscariot) chosen by Christ, the Creator of all things.

To them both names mattered, and had prophetic meaning. The Bible draws these two councils of twelve together in different ways, perhaps the most profound in its description of the New Jerusalem, created after Christ returns, where the apostles names are on its foundations, and the tribal names on its gates. As fitting for someone not bound by time, seeing the end from the beginning, and the beginning from the end, God turns things on their head to make His eternal city … and us.

In many ways the themes for the Twelve Days of Christ really provide insight to Christ and His character as He is the chosen One of God, His Son of the Right Hand (who carries His double portion blessing and authority), and the Seed of God, which was the promised inheritance of Abraham. In addition the Apostles forming the basis of His church, the Body of Christ on earth. So, also, in them we see insight to us not only in the revelation of who Christ is, but also in to the knowledge that we are to become more like Him. Perhaps twelves steps to maturing our life in Christ. And so this version of the Twelve Days of Christmas emerged, and in so doing praying that which is of God glorifies Him, and that which is not falls away.

And so when it comes to Day 12 of this series it was time to consider two amazing parts of who Christ is, the Son of the Right Hand of God, whose throne is found in Jerusalem (the City of David).

As the Son of God, Christ is also at His right hand, and so fully carrying His authority, and in the mystery of the trinity of God, Christ is the Son of God, completely the Lord, and the one through which all creation was and is created. Seated at the right hand of God, and indeed within His bosom, He also makes intercession for all His followers (children). Pleading our cause in the very presence of Almighty God, and from the place of His favour. Due to His manifestation on earth through Mary and Joseph, He is also seen as the descendant of Abraham and King David, and thus the Son who rules on the eternal throne. This Christ, is the One who sacrificed Himself for us that we may join Him in His family, and reign with Him in His kingdom.

Amazingly Jesus has taken all this to champion our cause before the courts of heaven. With the authority of God, and seated at His Righthand of His throne room, what greater advocate can we have. This One also championing us on from within, as by faith in Him he lives in us. Can we receive this, and accept such a prized One is championing us? As our hearts swings to Him, we discover His has always been for us. Our challenge is to accept that He is for us as an act of grace, and as we give in to this truth, letting go of false pride or shame, we are filled also with humility as these traits are also in us.

Now it came to pass, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, “Do not fear; you will have this son also.” And so it was, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-Oni (meaning son of my sorrow); but his father called him Benjamin (meaning son of the right hand). (Genesis 35:17-18)

The Bible states clearly that the Son of God is seated at God’s right hand, and thus calling to mind the the other key aspect of who He is, the redeemer and restorer. For another Son of the Righthand is mentioned in the His name is Benjamin, the youngest of the Jewish patriarch, Jacob, children. Born in to sorrow, with his birth leading to Jacob’s most loved wife’s death, His Father was not going to allow that to be His destiny or identity. rather proclaiming him to be the favoured son a wonderful act of redemption.

So to our Heavenly Father will not let past sorrows, pains, even family curses, become our identity if we pursue His plan for us, and Has sent Christ not just for our salvation, but also to impart to our heavenly identity which we are to walk out here on earth as it is in heaven. Key to the redemption of creation is His sons and daughters rising up to their God given purpose and identity.

The Nations Worship the King

And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. (Zechariah 14:16)

This identity includes being royal priests in the house and kingdom of God, and realising that in this we will be able to freely dwell with Him in His throne room when He returns to earth, this place found both in our hearts but also it seems in Jerusalem where His throne is found. A magical place, where there seems to be a great meeting point of the physical and spiritual worlds, a place selected by God from the beginning. It special nature perhaps revealed in the great contest,this place finds it in (beyond its natural size).. which basically all nations seeming to be involved in one way or the other over the centuries and even now. Here we are to be found,as well as to where we are sent, with crowns from heaven which we humbly submit to God, and given the roles of judging, intercessor, and ruler with Him. No wonder His has given us a training ground here in our life on earth, where He takes on a journey, characterised by these Twelve Days of Christmas, and one of suffering and sacrifice.

May the Lord reveal afresh this Christmas who we are in His eyes, and a double portion of His grace that enables us to walk in to who we are, and so be part of His preparation for the return of the King of kings, the Son of God, who comes to complete His work and ascend His earthly throne.
