The Fires of Intercession

With the staggering fires that impacted Australia late in 2019, and early 2020, now a dim memory, largely thanks to the impact of another consuming fire (COVID-19), it seems it is time to reflect on what was occurring. More directly, to consider what to pray when we see prophetic words playing out regarding nationwide bushfires, the Lord God’s preparation’s for the return of Christ, the renewal of His church and His people, and a new revelation of His ecclesia, operating with a passionate love, and power, that has not been seen…for many years (if ever)? For this author, there was an opportunity to pray with others with all that is unfolding, and thought it might be useful to share this prayer. But first, some background.

During the 2015, through to mid 2016, the Lord began speaking to me about the coming fire (including bushfires), storms, Australia, and His preparation of His people for His return, and the raising of a new move of God, with the burning passion for Christ, and His power. Some of these words are posted in the links below.

During 2019 words were also released from the Lord relating to the cleansing fire of God, and His renewing of the church. Please see a couple at the links below.

And finally, the Lord has also been speaking about what is to come in the season marked by the year 2020, and the related Hebrew year of 5780, and noting how He is speaking of a new season, marked by confluence, consummation, fire, and water. See link the following links:

There is was then, a sense of what the Lord was revealing in the present time about the nation-wide bush fire disaster in Australia. Please see this link:

The prayer

With all this before us, the following is just one prayer that is an example of prophetic intercession. Perhaps it provides some food for thought for you. Regardless, God bless you richly as you join with Him in prayers, intercession, and other acts for Him during this season.

Lord God, our nation burns due to our sins, tragic mistakes, fallen nature, and groaning of creation. We humble ourselves before You, and seek Your forgiveness and Your face. Turning to You the Creator of all, and our only answer, we not only seek Your Hand of help, but all of You. May we repent and turn afresh to You. Lord in Your mercy send the rains, pouring out from the storehouses of heaven Your waters, and Your Spirit. Cause the fountains of the deep to open up, bringing healing to our land. With the fires and water, may we be baptised afresh in You, and born again. Let our hearts burn with passion for You. The old nation passing away, as behold You make all things new in Christ. Come, Lord, come. Hear our cries, and reveal Your mighty hand of love. For even despite our weaknesses, Your mercy triumphs, and You do not strive with us in Your anger or sadness. In the name of Jesus Christ, let it rain.

Lord, may our Prime Minister seek Your wisdom, become like a father to the nation, and be anointed by the Holy Spirit to know the intercession of Christ, standing in the gap, with others, for our nation. Father guide our governmental, community, business, and emergency services leaders, with great insight, love, and collaboration. Thank you, Lord, that a new spirit of unity and mateship arises by Your grace, and the works of help continue with greater love by us to support those desperately impacted by the fires and the pandemic. Lord of all creation, may You bring a miracle of restoration in our environment, with new life, fauna and flora, springing forth to renew the burnt-out and barren lands.

Thank you, Lord, that You cause 2020 to be the year where we will see chapters in life close, and new ones begin. May this year mark a time where many of the promises and prophecies of God spoken in the last season (maybe even a decade or more ago) will come to their end point and fulfillment. Lord Jesus, let this new year see two streams of the Body of Christ, those who are strong in the word of God, and those who flow in the Spirit, truly merge and become one river, according to the prophetic insights for this year. Lord, as Your grace extends for marriages, and new alliances, let all involved seek Your wisdom and love, and the Kingdom of God advance. Father, may dreams and visions from the Lord received in recent years begin to take true form, with Your hand God moving in powerful ways, with blessing and provision following, and a fresh outpouring of gifts from God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Lord God may this be a season where wickedness will know judgement, and the righteous justice, as the courts of heaven reflect Your mercy and righteousness on earth. Lord may those who have been holding on to the promises of God, and even clinging to the Lord Himself through much injustice and trial, see their prayers answered and You manifest justice, restoration, and redemption. Thank you, Lord, that many of those things for which an end was prophesied will finally be manifested in this season, marking the end of one thing, and ushering a new work of the Spirit of God, and refreshing.

Lord Jesus Christ, may this year mark a new season where the Word of God will be heard in the streets, cities, governments, churches, enterprises, homes, highways and byways of this nation, and beyond, releasing blessing, creativity, new ideas, salvation, and Godly rebuilding. Let Your Shepherds’ voice be heard once again clearly across all parts of society. Thank you Lord that you raise up those humble servants, who have been trained in the Spirit and Truth of God, and who seek only You glory, who will declare Your word fearlessly, and many ears will be opened to receive this bread of life. May salvation’s bell ring clearly as souls give their hearts to Your good news, and Your prophetic word brings much fruit.

In the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN

Some more on this can be found here.

While in the natural the fires caused much earlier last year, and late in 2019, our intercession for this nation is so desperately needed, with warnings provided to us about the consequences of our decisions, believing these are provided to allow the nation to change course before greater sorrow comes, even leading us to our destiny and joy.

Just one warning is as follows:

LORD, have mercy.

Unquenchable Fire

The world as we knew it was brought to a virtual stop, as a virus chased us in to our homes to be in a safe place. Here we had a choice, to focus not on what we do not have, but, rather on Him who is always with us. With many of our wants stripped away, we came face to face with the reality of our lives. Much of it filled with running to and fro to seek some sought of meaningful fulfillment, only now realising that this frenetic pace of chasing our hearts desires had only taken us away from our First Love. Our identities even became exposed, and what we thought we were pulled away from under us, in order to expose the real us…sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, children dependent fully on our loving Heavenly Father.

But here we are in our upper rooms of prayer, and doing life with those most immediate to us, learning again to love that which is most important. Our caterpillar form that ate and grew through constant consuming and moving, now cocooned and being transformed in to a new creation. This is a pressure cooker, and transformation does hurt, even if only the soul, but it is necessary to become our true heavenly identity. Let’s not dismiss the life of the caterpillar, because it comes first, and then we become the butterfly. So we pray, love, and seek the face of Christ. Resisting the temptation to demand “my rights”, rather following closely the One who purchased our lives on the Cross of Calvary.

As we indeed have in these days waited upon the Lord, casting away those things the distract us from Christ, including where we have replaced Him with religious acts, we are made ready for a fresh out pouring from above. Where streams of living waters will flow in the desert of our lives and bring new life, healing, and renewal. This is no ordinary Pentecost time, as if there is one really. Across the earth many have found themselves in this place, the Lord bringing to pass the call to the upper room as a sovereign act…for we resisted the request. Some have been in this place for months, if not years, as forerunners and intercessors of the move to come.

Now comes the Pentecost outpouring where we are filled afresh with His Spirit and Fire, experiencing the ministry of the Baptiser. Filled with a new call, and equipped with His power to pursue the new things He has for us. Let us be excited, and receive the outpouring, and know with it comes the boldness to step out in faith to our new identity. Fly with the Spirit of God, filled with unquenchable fire, the kind that sets the world alight for our God and King, Jesus Christ the Lord. And, for those forerunners among us who have experienced this time of trial for longer than most, know Christ turns your bitter in to sweet. Healing rivers will flow, and His redemption will cause the past to be forgotten, as He propels You in to a new place of abundance, and refuge, where you dwell in the canopy of His presence, moving according to His rhythm not man’s.

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He [Christ Jesus] who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” (Matthew 3:11-12)

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:46-49)

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:4-8)

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” (Ephesians 5:8-14)

Coming quickly

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (Revelation 22:12-21)

Consuming fire

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:28-29)

The King

Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with the voice of triumph! For the Lord Most High is awesome; He is a great King over all the earth. He will subdue the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet. He will choose our inheritance for us, theexcellence of Jacob whom He loves.
God has gone up with a shout, the Lord with the sound of a trumpet. Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises! For God is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.
God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. The princes of the people have gathered together, the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; He is greatly exalted. (Psalms 47)

My Home, the House of Prayer

‘Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.’ (John 4:21-23)
For in these days the Lord would refocus us on His engine room of the church (the ecclesia), that is each of His believers who are the new temple of God, and our homes which are the houses of God, and both the house of prayer for all nations….in the knowledge that those who believe on Jesus Christ as the Lord and God, are of the royal priesthood of believer. The veil is torn, the old temple has past, each of us can enter in to the very presence of God through Jesus Christ and wait on Him.
The Lord Jesus Christ came to pave the way for all who believe on Him to enter in to the very presence of God. He is the gate to God, and as we enter through Him, we not only have access to the throne of God, but receive the spirit of adoption to become one in His family as sons and daughter, brothers and sisters. No longer do we need a priest to intercede for us, being that connection to above, nor can they truly do so. For our Father in heaven made a way for each of us to connect directly to Him, and be royal priests who can minister to Him. This is the new covenant, and is not just does His design, but our destiny and THE way.
As He showed us in Scripture, not only did He open the door, but as we believe on Him as Lord and Saviour, He made His home in us by His Spirit, and so we became living temples of God. No longer do we go to the temple, or the church, to pray in the presence of God, but we do so in the secret place of our heart, in the prayer closet of God. We can pray wherever we are, for His is in us, and omnipresent (everywhere present). We are to ascend this mountain of the Lord, rising up in the spiritual realm in our prayer and maturity of God, in sacrifice and humility, to be near to Him, closer than a breath to His heart. From this place of His manifest presence we can intercede at the right-hand of God in Jesus Christ. As we do so, looking not from earth to heaven, pleading for our needs; rather looking with the eyes of Jesus Christ, from heaven to earth, praying as He sees with the Prophet’s eyes, and by faith.
No wonder Moses desired that we would all prophesy, and God’s heart is for us to see Him face-to-face. This is the heart of Christ for all who follow Him, to have this direct face to face intimate relationship with Him, praying and interceding with Him in our living temples, and in our homes. The early church understood it, and thus gathered from home to home, and were encouraged to pray continually (not just at the ‘hour of prayer’). While for an early season the Jewish Christians would still go to the temple as well, that would end as the Jewish leader and Herod rose up to kill and persecute them, causing many to disperse from the place of the Temple (Jerusalem). Of course the Gentile Christian were not bound to these past traditions, and freely prayed and worshiped in homes and in their hearts. To worship God in all His fullness, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, this is our calling.
Over time political and religious spirits crept in to the church, and sort to once again create separation between the believers and God, sometimes actively placing the leader and the church between themselves and believers, and so looking to recreate the Old Covenant. Often this occurred as administrative efficiencies seemed to demand systems for managing larger groups of people, and as church leadership models mimicked more of the world. But this was torn apart by Christ, and His church built on the personal revelation He is the Anointed One, and the knowledge that He is Immanuel (God-with-us). Only He is truly the head of the global congregation of believers, and this gathering (ecclesia) to Him is in the heavenlies, and on earth, and from this position of faith we understand we govern with Him, and carry His authority in prayer and intercession, as we pray from His heart.
Practically the church will come together in larger gatherings, and there are those called to help organise as such, equip believers, help lead us in to a more intimate relationship in the Lord, and to serve and shepherd with Christ the Lord’s people. However, the principal relationship stays the same, that is personally between each believer and the Father through Christ Jesus, and then on to their neighbours. This is the House of Prayer for All Nation. The Old Testament temple foreshadowing who we are to become, and while perhaps it will be rebuilt as a sign of the Lord Jesus’ soon return, we must run from the ‘church’ and ‘temple’ structures that are an administration of man, which seek to usurp our direct relationship with God, bring us in to a place of complacency and accountability in our relationship with Christ, and, in the worst cases, turn our worship away from God to the dark forces that seek to promote themselves, and take the glory.
During these days of the global pandemic of COVID-19 the Lord is working His good purposes, and scattering us from the ‘church’ of man, and back in to the home, where we can restore our communion with Him. Here we can choose to go deeper in the Lord, and return to ‘my home, the house of God’. As we re-emerge, remember our Lord Jesus Christ is the King and Head of the church, and by His Spirit He leads us all to Him and for His Kingdom. While some may gather with other homes, or in larger gathering, remember well the relationship you have with the Lord, and stay first connected to Him, and do not forsake this first love. Be alert to any leader, church, or gathering that seeks to place themselves between you and Christ, and gradually even replace Him as being the central place of your prayers and heart. He is the one you serve out here where He has called us to shine His light, to flow freely in the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit, and to intercede with Him as He brings heaven to earth, and prepares for His return.
For your prayerful consideration with Jesus Christ.

Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. (Mark 15:38)
‘Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?’ (1 Corinthians 6:19)
‘And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ [n]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.'(Acts 2:40-45)
‘And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.’ (Acts 4:31)
‘And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.’ (Acts 5:42)
‘Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison’. (Acts 8:1-3)
‘So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.'(Acts 12:12) And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” (2 Corinthians 6:16)
Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Likewise greet the church that is in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia to Christ. (Romans 16:5)
Greet the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church that is in his house. (Colossians 4:15)
