Fire will come…

(Image: Diana Ayana, Beniot Tessier, Christophe Petit Tesson, Beniot Tessier)

Some amazing imagery summarising the apparent impact of the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral … and yet it goes much deeper than we observe.

The fire came, the wood and relics consumed, and yet the Cornerstone stands, as to the Cross. It is the Church of Jesus Christ that stands, not that of our ‘Dear Mother’ (Notre Dame). His church is to be full of those whose heart is a fire for Him, this one will arise from the ashes. Such great insights for the church world-wide.

1 Corinthians 3:9-17

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.

Notre Dame Cathedral Fire..a sign to make you wonder?

When considering the fire of Notre Dame Cathedral, this sign calls to mind insights from the Lord about the rise of His witnessing church, and the cleansing fire of the Lord Jesus that prepares His Bride.

Will the Bird of Pray Leader Arise…to seek Righteousness

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. (Ezekiel 22:30)

Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs 14:34)

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

As Australia enters in to its next Federal Election, it seems timely to remember the exhortations and warnings of the Lord. Firstly, that healing and restoration comes as God’s people humble themselves, repent, and pray. And part of this prayer is to be for our political leaders, and this nations’ Prime Minister.

Many look to government to save their nation, but it is so true that only God saves, and indeed that is through the one name, Jesus Christ our Lord. This salvation coming as His people, not some government or others, repent and pray! Praying for the nation, repenting of our sins, and standing in gaps for those of the nation.

To further that call to prayer, is the commission to pray first for our leaders … particularly those who govern us…that we may have a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and reverence…so that all men (and women) could be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth! Here is the rub, we are to pray for them such that the truth would be freely released, and a godly society prevail, which also means our leaders must be such ones who seek this as well. This is the call to God’s Righteousness which will exalt this nation.

Leaders who prevent the preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom of God, and the full counsel of His truth are not standing in the gaps for their nation, rather contributing to its fall. For as righteousness exalts a nation, so unrighteousness will humble it.

Never before in the history of this nation, at least since the gospel first came to its shores, has the threats against those who preach truths of God be so strong, and the persecution of orthodox Christians being so real. Led by humanists and left wing socialist, and various radical lobby groups, the leaders have bowed weakly to their pressures, and consequently sought to prevent to speaking of God’s truths. But the church is no less guilt, being largely silent, and many guilty of leading hedonistic, self centred lives, rather than sacrificially living for Christ, and praying for this nation.

Now is the urgent call to repent and pray, and for our leaders to make a stand for righteousness. For our unrighteousness risks humbling this nation in a way it has yet seen, our own sins being the cause. For great forces arise in the north, and while their motives are many, they will come against this nation and prevail if we do not repent. Their unseen trigger, our moral fall. The call to our leadership to stand in the gap has never been so strong, as to His people.

Surely the Lord in His mercy will save our nation if we call on this name. Should we fall short of our call to prayer He will not allow us to totally torn apart, and even from the northern forces a leader seeking the restoration of His Church and Bride will be called. But such leaders can come from this nation, should we arise and pursue the Lord and His righteousness.

Pray!

Palm Sunday…a clue to the Return of the King

Celebrate Palm Sunday, and remember to watch for the return of the King of kings.

For this day not only reminds us of the great events of Easter, the most important in the history of humanity, it also provides a tantalising clue to the timing of His return.

John 12:12-13

The Triumphal Entry

(Matt. 21:1–11; Mark 11:1–11; Luke 19:28–40)

The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:

“Hosanna!

Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’

The King of Israel!”

Leviticus 23:39-42

‘Also on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the Lord for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest. And you shall take for yourselves on the first day the fruit of beautiful trees, branches of palm trees, the boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. You shall keep it as a feast to the Lord for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths,

Waiting, in His Word I do hope

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,

And in His word I do hope.

My soul waits for the Lord

More than those who watch for the morning—

Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

(Psalms 130:5-6)

Watching for the sunrise, watching for the Son

The heavens declare the glory of God;

And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Day unto day utters speech,

And night unto night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech nor language

Where their voice is not heard.

Their line has gone out through all the earth,

And their words to the end of the world.

In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun,

Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,

And rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

Its rising is from one end of heaven,

And its circuit to the other end;

And there is nothing hidden from its heat. (Psalms 19:1-6)

Ever noticed just how many people can be found at viewing points waiting for the sun to rise? And, have you considered the apparent sudden brightening between the just before and after of the sunrise (see above images).

As Psalm 19 reminds us, the Lord’s creation utters His words, and this includes at dawn, and through the movement of the sun. What is God saying in the sunrise? Well one big message is, “My Son is coming back, watch for Him”. The psalm even likens the sun to the bridegroom, an image of Christ. So appropriate when you consider these Biblical promises.

Malachi 4:2

But to you who fear My name

The Sun of Righteousness shall arise

With healing in His wings;

And you shall go out

And grow fat like stall-fed calves.

Luke 1:78-79

Through the tender mercy of our God,

With which the Dayspring [dawn, sunrise, east rising sun] from on high has visited us;

To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,

To guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Revelation 1:12-17

Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire; His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters; He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

Our Lord Jesus Christ is indeed the glorified One, whose countenance is like the sun shining in full brightness, and in His rising is salvation, healing, and restoration. To remind us of Him, God set the sun as a sign in the heavens not only of Christ, but of His return. We should not worship the heavenly body that is the sun, a trap for some, rather worship only the Son of God.

His return will be like a rising of the sun, but the like of which we have never seen before.

Matthew 24:27

For as the lightning [bright shining; flash; lighten; shine] comes from the east and flashes [lighten; shine like with rays; appear; fire; light; luminousness; make manifest] to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

When you look at the fuller meaning from the Greek of key words in this famous verse that speaks of Christ’s return, you can see perhaps something of the brightness that we will see at His coming, and similarities with the light at sunrise.

Mark 13:32-37

No One Knows the Day or Hour

(Matt. 24:36–44; Luke 21:34–36)

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

Matthew 25:5-13

But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

“Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.

The admonition of the Lord is clear, we are to watch for His return, and do so with endurance and expectation. In so doing we watch not just in the day time, but before the sun rises, for the shout has gone out, “Behold, the Bridegroom is coming”. We are to be found in Him in the watch, filled with His Spirit, and best done so with deep roots/wells that have been dug through trial and suffering, and with the patience of faith.

So here it is, the Lord gives us the sunrise to remind us of His Son, the Dayspring from on high. And, He calls us to watch and prepare for Jesus Christ’s return. Awaking to watch for the sunrise it is indeed a prophetic sign of this watch. Even those who do not know Him, gaze n to a reminding of Him as they watch for the dawning of a new day. He is the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings, and a sign to this is that those who watch for Him even find healing, which ultimately salvation for those who do not know Him. The mystery of God.

So as you find yourself waking in the early hours, searching out a view of the rising sun, do so knowing the Lord’s call to watch, and so join with Him in this call, for He establishes a thing through the agreement of witnesses/watchers. Make ready, He comes soon.

Rainbows … more than a sign of promises kept

… they remind us of His enthroned presence

And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above it. Also from the appearance of His waist and upward I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.

Ezekiel Sent to Rebellious Israel

So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

(Ezekiel 1:26-28a)

And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.

(Revelation 4:3)
