‘And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.’ (Colossians 2:13-15)
As we read of the lives so tragically taken by the bomb attack in Manchester, and try to come to terms with the evil acts that took the lives of children, and loving parents, it becomes apparent it can make no sense other than it reveal how the devil has invaded the hearts of some to exact His murderous intent. It is well said that he comes to steal, kill and destroy, (see John 10), and yet he continually forgets that Christ will and does have the victory, and comes to give life abundantly.
It is so ironic that these very acts that ISIS, and other radical Islamic groups, carry out on behalf of satan has the effect of driving people away from the false god they worship, and in to the One who promises eternal life, and whose main message is love – love for Him, and each other. God through Christ has the victory, and the peddlers of such hideous, cowardly attacks, seem oblivious to the fact that there part in fulfilling the scheme of enemy, does in fact have the complete opposite effect. For these bomb carriers end up not in some heavenly state, rather in the fires of hell where the worm of conscious continually gnaws at their mind as they feel the eternal fires of pain, alone. The people they attack, are driven away from there hate, death, and the false gods these terrorists service, and seek life and love…and so in to the arms of the true God and Saviour. The Lord certainly does not cause such pain, but will work out a much better purpose than the evil intent of such murderous spirits dressed up as martyrs for desparate cause.
“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.” (Matthew 18:10-11)
It is so sad to see such young children caught in the explosion in Manchester, and yet we know that Christ did not leave them there alone. In the flash of the explosion, He revealed Himself to the innocence present, and His angels caught them up.
‘”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”‘ (John 3:16-17)
For adult and older ones there, and us listening and watching on, He sends His comforter (the Holy Spirit) who can ministers to our needs while reminding us, and drawing us in to, the only door for eternal life -which has been revealed to us. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ, and He stands knocking, beckoning us to come to Him. Where He promises to give abundantly life. This is not a life that is sweet candies, puppy dogs, and all things nice, rather one filled with true goodness and eternity of abundant life and love, which is deep and rich, and by the Holy Spirit able endure the storms on earth, finding hope and deliverance in all circumstances, and full of the pleasures of heaven, where there are no tears, rejoicing and pure joy..and most of all fellowship and intimacy with God, our Heavenly Father.
