Magnificence

Praise to the Lord from Creation

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord from the heavens;

Praise Him in the heights!

Praise Him, all His angels;

Praise Him, all His hosts!

Praise Him, sun and moon;

Praise Him, all you stars of light!

Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,

And you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord,

For He commanded and they were created.

(Psalms 148:1-5)

When we consider the vastness of space, it can sometimes inspire us to consider our heavenly maker, or perhaps make us seem so small. As the psalmist reminds us, that which is all created by God, and in fact all made through Christ by the spoken word of our Lord, have their own songs, that with perfect harmony, declares the praises of God. A fact well illustrated by Louie Giglio in this you tube clip. (https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=share&v=helxFeG-0n0)

And perhaps while this can reveal the magnificence of God, and maybe put us in to perspective, His creation also reveals the vastness of His love. Consider the redness of the lunar eclipse, created as the earth perfectly stands in the gaps between the sun and moon. The earth a symbol of Christ interceding for humankind (the moon), the sun a picture of the Father God. The red, revealing the blood shed by Jesus for us.

In amongst the wonders of all His creation, the magnificence of the Father’s love is revealed, looking through it all to pursue us, to sacrifice His Son for our lives to be set free from darkness. All we need to do…is know Him, and follow His path of life.

The magnificence of God is matched only by the vastness of His love.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

(John 1:1-5)
