Since the dawn of time the sun has risen in the east, and set in the west, as a reminder of God’s mercy. For He promised that on earth as far apart east is from the west, by His love He will remove our sin from us ..and redeem us to Him. Even knowing our frailty, and our kicking against Him, our Heavenly Father will find away to bring us home. He will send the Saviour, His Son. When the time had come for it fulfilment, its advent is almost unimaginable.
And now, the Son has risen with healing and salvation in His wings, and the sun has set on our life of condemnation.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.
For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
