Praise: The Weapon of Warfare

Sing to the LORD a new song, and His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you inhabitants of them! Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar [darkness] inhabits. Let the inhabitants of Sela [rock/hard place] sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Let them give glory to the LORD, and declare His praise in the coastlands. The LORD shall go forth like a mighty man; He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war. He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud; He shall prevail against His enemies. (Isaiah 42:10-13)

In the kingdom of God, the weapons of warfare are beyond human understanding. And yet, the Bible tell us they are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). As the word of God reveals in Isaiah 42, a key instrument of battle in spiritual warfare is the praises of God.

As we choose to lift up His name, and praise the Lord, God can and does reveals His authority over His enemies, as He is moved like a man of war, mighty in power for defeating the enemy and his schemes. While many will see this as a spiritual concept, Jehoshaphat, Paul, and Silas, knew more. For as the Lord leads, He manifests His spiritual victories on earth as they are in heaven.

Paul and Silas lifted up their voice to the Lord, to see God deliver them from a dark place, and see salvation prosper (Acts 16:25-34). Jehoshaphat and the people of God lifted up the name of the Lord, and saw the Lord defeat an enemy’s army more numerous than theirs without lifting a hand other than to God (2 Chronicles 20:14-24). In His sovereignty, and by His grace, the Lord will move in zeal with His right harm to war for His will and His people, for the battle is the Lord’s.

So let us raise the praises of God over our circumstance. If you are in a dark place, praise the Lord, and you will be delivered in to the light. If you are between a rock and a hard place, sing to the Lord a new song, and see Him make a way where there seems to be no way. Where strife and dismay seem to be against you and your family, lift up your hands in worship to our God and Saviour. He will defeat the schemes of the enemies.

Where armies of your enemies have come against you, lift up praise to he Lord and see victory. So, let the saints of Ukraine and around the world sing to the Lord, giving Him all honour, power, strength, and might, worship Him alone. He will move in might, and shall prevail against the enemy. There strongholds will be pulled down, the missiles will be broken, ambushes will occur, confusion will be sent in to the camps of the enemy’s army, and they will be pushed back. The proud will be humbled, and Ukraine will rise up in to its full sonship in God.

In you local area, lift up you praise to the Lord knowing His moves in power, not only inhabiting that praise, but pushing back the enemies around you…in the seen and unseen realms. Fill your homes with worship unto Jesus, your car on the way to work, your workplaces where you can, for in them the Lord dwells, and the schemes of Satan, and the forces of wickedness go awry. Light comes, and dark thoughts fade, as even the battlefield of the mind sees Christ’s victory and deliverance. In these circumstance praise may be hard, but offering them at such times is indeed a sweet smelling sacrifice to God, who can only be moved by such devotion.

As much as the advance of the kingdom of God is always a battle against the forces of darkness, and we need to always be aware that the fight is right before us, there is a sense we have entered into a particular season of warfare, and it now the body of Christ should arise as Christ’s warrior bride. Remembering though for many the weapons of warfare are not those of man, rather gifts from heaven. Where praise, the word of God (Hebrews 4:12), the power of God, and love (2 Timothy 1:7), move the Spirit of God to bring about victory for the King of kings, Jesus Christ. For those given to be kings in these times, know this, you have been given a sword of righteousness, and it is to be used in wisdom against evil, and to protect His people. This is your calling at such a time as this.
