The Gift and Ministry of Children

When considering children in the Bible, it is clear to see they hold such a special place in the heart of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is perhaps forgotten that this goes beyond a sense of nurture and care, as He also has a special ministry and role for them in His kingdom.

Consider the following ministry of children, they:
📖 Reveal the way of the Kingdom of God, and the entrance criteria (Matthew 18:3,4)
📖 Bring the blessing of Christ (Matt. 18:5)
📖 Have as their defender Christ (Matt. 18:6)
📖 Have an open door and place of intimacy with Christ (Matt. 19:13-15)
📖 Reveal the character of the kingdom of God’s residents (Matt. 19:14)
📖 Abide in His kingdom (Matt. 18:3,4,10; 19:14; Luke 18:16,17)
📖 Have a saviour, Christ, who rebukes those who hinder children coming close to Him (Luke 18:15)
📖 Declare the praises of God that counter the enemy (Psalm 8:2)
📖 Trumpet, declare, the arrival in to the church and temple of the King of kings (Matt. 21:15,16)
📖 Reveal the mysteries of heaven (Matt. 11:17; 19:14)

There is so much we can gain from their ministry..our starting place is to recognise their role in the Kingdom of God, and the need to be like them.

Matthew 18:3-5
and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.”‘

Matthew 21:15-16
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?”
And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,
‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have perfected (ordained) praise’? ”’
