“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.
(Matthew 13:44-46)
Ultimately the Lord Jesus Christ gave His all, even His life, for the pearl of great price (our salvation), and the hidden treasure covered in darkness). Now, though, as ‘little Christs’ (Christians) He call us to partner with Him and to sell all to go after the hidden treasures, and great pearls, He reveals to us. Only Christ could give His life for our salvation, so that is not needed again, though He still asks us to sacrifice all for Him, even our money, and dreams, if necessary to follow His way – the extension of the kingdom of heaven.
Interestingly, He reveals in His Word above, the mystery of His kingdom ways. For, there are times when the Lord reveals to us hidden treasures and yet we cannot take the treasure, rather sacrifice all for the field it is in. Perhaps He has placed on your heart the salvation and release of His children in a city, and yet the key is not to take them to your ministry, rather to seek the city, and in so doing to gain the treasure you sort….even though they may be the few in the city who will be saved. At other times, He reveals your call may be the salvation of the one (individual), and yet in His economy this is as important as a whole city. Whatever He call you to, trust in the leading and sacrifice He draws you in to.
The Lord Jesus continues to lead us, and has actually paid the full price, and by His Holy Spirit we can partner with Him as He claims His inheritance. Some are called to “buy a field”, others “the pearl of great price”, all part of His kingdom plan. The key, is to place His kingdom first, and follow His leading.
Remember, it is written,
‘The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!’ (Matthew 13:41-43)
He is coming soon, the end time harvest angels are preparing, so we must move quickly as the Lord does seek all to be saved (knowing sadly many forsake Him), so move with haste and yet with depth in Him, for the clock is ticking.
