Shine

The Yellow Robin seems quite at home in the shadows of the rainforest, flying from one branch to another, keeping safe, and hidden. Yet, when it stops it’s beauty is then revealed for you to see, bringing joy, a sense of wonder, and lifting the soul. Perhaps even more so if this little wonder breaks for the fields of sun.

Turning the corner of the rainforest path, the winter sun streams through brightening this otherwise shadowy world. And so I am reminded, light is meant to shine, and not be hidden. Sure it will reveal shadows, but even more so light brings life and hope to many. And, if we carry Christ’s light, we have one that shines brighter than the day. The challenge to be bold and let the light shine, knowing it’s glory is not for us, rather for Another.

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
