The trumpet sounds, and His army is called together to advance. An army like no other, one that meets in the air, and whose soldiers are from the time of the ancients all the way through to tomorrow. Those who have served on earth find themselves alongside the faithful who have been held in the heart of heaven until this day. Alongside them an army of beings, who call them brethren, and yet clearly are not from humankind. And yet, for those who have eyes to see, together they have partnered, perhaps glimpsing them in the shadows, or from the corner of their eyes, or even over the dining table. Heavenly ministering agents, who have served the saints, but are now standing alongside them as they advance with the Lord, for the Captain of the Lord’s army has called them, for now is the time for the kingdoms of the world to become the kingdoms of our God and the Christ.
With the King of kings up front, we all fall in, and in a twinkle of an eye we are immortalised to serve in this heavenly advance. At once our new being is made complete, and we abide in the Lord’s victory, where death and sin hold no fear, for we are all one in the eternal family of God.
Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel [meaning God-with-us]. Isaiah 7:14
However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:46-58)
“Make two silver trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the movement of the camps. When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you. When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey. When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys. And when the assembly is to be gathered together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance. The sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and these shall be to you as an ordinance forever throughout your generations. “When you go to war in your land against the enemy who oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and you will be remembered before the Lord your God, and you will be saved from your enemies. (Numbers 10:2-9)
And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. (Revelations 19:14)
