Watching on, that faithful prophet Daniel foresaw this amazing event, as the Lord, the Ancient of Days, prepares to be seated on earth as He is in heaven, and thrones are put in place for His kings to ascend. The Messiah, the King of kings choosing those who will rule with Him on earth. A reign that is not fleeting but lasts for a thousand years. And now, that time has come, for the Lord Jesus Christ has returned and taken His place here on earth, and all nations are coming to Him. And there, on each side of Him are thrones who reign is established and maintained by Him, and in them are the chosen. But how were they chosen?
It is fair to say that it is unlikely that the world would know them, or perhaps some may but would have paid them no regard. These lowly ones are they who understood their role, to love Him, to follow Him; and, being obedient to the Ancient of Days, putting others first, they stayed true to their First Love through pain, persecution, death, or despair. These had seen the glory of the coming of the King and, filling their hearts with the joy of seeing their beloved Lord, they allowed the things of earth to grow strangely dim in the light of His face. Indeed, many of the ‘first’ will be last, and the those considered last will be the first. The qualifications to reign for a thousand years alongside, and submitted, to the King of glory, are not found in industry, universities, religious practices, or the systems of government. It is loving relationship, anointing, faithfulness, and humility that makes one prepared for such a high calling, but most of all, it is His call that positions you for reigning with the Divine.
He has chosen those of His royal priesthood who would ascend these throne. Sure some maybe the apostles of old, but there are other thrones. Do you here the call to “come up here and take your place”?
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:8-11)
So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first. (Matthew 19:28-30)
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years. (Revelations 20:4-6)
