New beginnings – and more prophetic insights into this season, 2022 (5782), and beyond

“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:18-19

At this time the Lord is speaking of a particularly grace from Him for new beginnings, even the creation of new things, that just don’t impact the world around us, but our lives directly. The challenge is that new is new, probably not seen by or experienced by us before, or if we have, only in a different setting and time. Our Father in heaven is the Creator of all things, and it is in His very nature to create, which perhaps explains why change is one of those great constants in creation.

However, in recent years, the Lord has set about creating a season of quantum change globally. Speaking to people’s and nations heart about new things to come during 2017-2018, setting us on a journey of discovery. The seed of the idea germinating through 2019, but before it could be birth and become real, He sought a global reset, such that we would not just stumble in to another year dragging the past into the new, rather starting afresh, as if almost from a blank page.

This reset commences with a pause and stop, as we saw in 2020, causing us to retreat back in to our own places of refuge..where we had a chance to refocus on the Lord and our family. This was just the start of the refresh, as we continued through waves that impact not just our own lives, but almost all around us. And now, soon, slowly the new thing starts to emerge, perhaps taking more shape for some in 2022, but maybe not until towards the end of that period. We are on a journey of preparation for the birth of new things in our lives, and those around us, like we have not seen for a long time. God works in His good purposes through all things.

In 2023, after the new things that started to take shape through 2022 emerge, movement will truly begin as walls and doorways no longer given reason to focus, rather give structure to allow a journey of discovery. We expect to see global movement be truly freed up in that year, as doors open wide. Another phenomenon will be to see the pursuit of the poor by the rich (in spirit and naturally), and the the progression of kings (those prepared in the times of the wilderness and refuge).

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (Isaiah 42:9)

Our challenge seems to be to have the wisdom to recognise the new beginnings when they occur, and adapt to them as this aspect of creation comes in to our lives. Sure, we can choose to ignore the new, and try and live life as if it never occurred, but life around will continue to adapt around us, and at best we will be left stagnant, or even left behind from the blessings that come from new life. When change is made manifest on a global scale, choosing to attempt to ignore it is akin to choosing to ignore the tsunami…it will eventually crash through your lives. So we are to surf this wave by God’s wisdom and grace, rather than be smashes by it.

Sure there are new inventions every day, and that is really just because all humanity is made in God’s image, and all aspects of creation, so it cannot help but to create new. The impacts of sin entering the world also causes things to decay, thus dust leads to dust, and this also brings constant change until our Redeemer comes to redeem all things. But, it is not this change that really matters, it is the new thing that God brings across your path to usher you in to a new life that bring deeper levels of maturity, blessings to yourself or others, and brings us closer to His density for our lives.

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22-23)

The Lord continues to work in us His new thing, for His love for us means that He seeks to transform us from glory to glory in to His image. Out of His compassions and mercies for our life, Christ in our lives brings about His new creation. And while we have that instant rebirth in our spirit when accepting Christ, it is His divine work to continue to bring the fullness of that in to every aspect of our lives. Sure we may be going through the preparation for a once in a lifetime change event at the moment, but in reality this is not about a one off event, rather embracing a lifetime of change, and also ‘the new’.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. (John 1:1-3)

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16)

But in the year 2021, and coming 2022, (Hebrew years 5781 and 5782), God has been speaking of a particularly work of new beginnings, that is a new season of our lives in Him, as He speaks and brings this about through His Son. The creation coming as first there was silence and awe and all things came to a stop in 2020, then the Father spoke His creative word that is the seed for the new creation, and now this creation starts to be made manifest, as it comes in to being through His Son. His voice will be heard, and by it the walls and doors, the construction of this new thing, becomes real. The new starts to take shape. But we must not rush ahead, rather journey with Him in this new beginning. For only in 2023 will we start to see movement truly occur, the new things expand. Travel will truly open up, and the pursuit of new horizons become truly possible, as boundaries are removed.

In truth we are being prepared for a new things that will not be truly be made manifested until the decade commencing in 2030s (Hebrew year 5790s). This is a fundamental shift, and only made possible through by global reset…and so to the changes of the new things being on structured now will impact globally when it is fully realised in the decade to come.

‘We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.’

T. S. Eliot

The new can come in surprising ways, and often it seems in familiar surroundings. The key is to be able to separate our situation from the new direction in to which God is calling us. While the new may see us going to new lands, homes, churches, jobs, people, for others it can look like end up in a place you have been before. But, as the Bible says, ‘“Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth’”, and this is not a request from God, rather a command. We must be open to God doing a new thing in familiar settings, and be prepared to let go of the past, including its relationships, systems, programs, form, and embrace that which the Holy Spirit reveals. Trusting in the knowledge that God’s word and His Spirit never changes, but the way He calls us to live does.

Perhaps this is one of the biggest challenges for God’s church today. As COVID-19 has forced many in to lock down, He gave us a chance to start afresh, resetting us for a new future..to return to the ancient ways of devotion to Him, love for another; and, us all being the sent ones, His priesthood of royal believers, moving freely in His love, power, faith, and with His word. He is blowing away the old structures, much of which was created by man, some of which was also His making for then but not now. And yet, as we emerge from lock down, so many seek to simply run back to what was there, perhaps out of familiarity, or fear of the unknown, rather than saying, “God, show us the new way’” and then waiting for HIs to reveal what is to come, and moving in the first steps He reveals.

You have heard; See all this. And will you not declare it? I have made you hear new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them. They are created now and not from the beginning; And before this day you have not heard them, lest you should say, ‘Of course I knew them.’ (Isaiah 48:6-7)

By God’s grace He still holds us in this place of decision, and it is not to late to lay down all that you hold precious before the Lord, and see what He reveals to you about church, your vision for the future. Some of it He may give back, others aspects He will ask you to let go. We need to trust in Him, and HIs love for us, knowing, the Lord’s will for us is “to give you a future and a hope” (see Jeremiah 29:11).

For what the Lord seeks to do in this season is start a new work that is just the beginning, and work that will establish His church for a bold new work that will become most manifest perhaps a decade later, as He seeks to prepare for His return, and to bring in to His family all those He has called. So let us be brave, and embrace this season of quantum shift, where the old wineskins (see Matthew 9:16,17) make way for the new, and be ready to pursue the new thing the Lord reveals, for in the end this is because of His love for us. But this will see stretching and strengthening (Isaiah 54:2,3), those deeper works of God, that may seem painful at the time, or at least disarming, and yet completely necessary to fulfil Christ’s purposes for Him in us.

This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. (Isaiah 43:21)

The love of God for us, and the eternal nature of His word, compels this change. For His way is to redeem creation, and His word and work of redemption will not fail, but complete all that it is sent out to do. Christ shall return, and He prepares us for His return and eternity. His love, the love of our Father, will see us transformed from glory to glory, in to His image. We are indeed formed for Him, and to dwell in heavenly places in the kingdom of God, as it is completed on earth and in heaven, requires this change to unfold. It is for our beauty in Him. For we His children are destined to become fully His new creation, and all creation is to be made fully new.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
