“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.” (Matt. 7:24,25)
We are in a season where as part of His preparation for His return, and due to the battle of empires (naturally and spiritually), the foundations on which we stand are being tested, and that which is founded on Christ will stand. This is occurring at individual levels, and also most certainly at governmental and empire levels. Nations and cities will find their foundations tested, and natural and spiritual forces will seek to reveal the weaknesses, however those who turn afresh to Him, or have persevered in the time of trials, will find they will become like refuges, arks of His presence, and places of abundance. The church is in no way immune from this season.
In this time, old man-made structures will fall away, and the opportunity to build on Christ afresh made possible, or a time is provided through fiery times to further hone[1] and deepen those connections with God as we pursue and hold on to Him just to stand[2]. Many of these are storms of life, created by the fallen creation (including man and Satan), where having done all, we stand, and through right relationships, prayer, prophecy, devotion and love we lean[3] in to Him, while also examining ourselves before His loving mirror and removing that which hinders a closer connection with Christ. All revealing the beauty of His creation in us, His children, His precious treasures. In other senses, though, there are events occurring in the Church and the world, where the hand of God is revealed in the way the fire[4] reveals true foundations, and like a bush fire, makes possible for new growth to occur who seed has been planted by Him.
The process of establishing the right foundations is something the Lord will do, and we are called to partner with Him in this work. This also applies to churches, communities, and nations. Leader, and all, submitting to God, and following the Lord as lead by the Holy Spirit, even corporately humbling themselves to God, and establishing His governmental order. The Lord, also raising up those, particularly apostles, prophets, and intercessors to watch over this work. Partnering with Him as He draws His blueprints[5], or rebuilds[6] ruins, sowing the ground[7] for new growth, and raising up His holy people and house in the land.
The Bible reveals much about the foundations God is seeking in His creation, including each of us, and that it also the case that they are made true through the storms and tests. The key is that whether they are the underlying structures of us individually, in our family, church, community, government, business, state, nation, empires, and the world, these are all to be made by God. Most important of all, this foundation has as its cornerstone, Christ Jesus.
‘for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.’ (Hebrews 11:10)
What is certain, our foundations are to be centred on God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and developed through obedience to Him, and with key characteristics of righteousness, justice, mercy and grace. The other foundational elements being the apostolic and prophetic underpinning in our community, and government. The deepest strength found in the personal, intimate relationship with the cornerstone, Jesus.
Consider these verses.
10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. (1 Corinthians 3:10-15)
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
For the Lord Jesus is coming again, and in this season He is preparing[8] us afresh for His return, and also for the great awakening and transfer of wealth that has been prophesied. For His will only release these end times move upon nations and peoples who are founded in Him, and seek Him above themselves. Would He transfer the wealth of nations to the church, if they simply built bigger churches, and blessed themselves, and whose vision cannot stretch to be the providers for a nation, and the builder of cities? Would He cause the greatest move of His Spirit, with abundance of life and salvations if the church or His people, were not obedience to all the Holy Spirit’s leading, and be willing to love the unlovely, and be true family?
So while we may not understand all that is unfolding now, and even the cause, be assured the Lord is in control. Fear not as you see leaders, nations, and empires appear to fall, know that He is restoring and building foundations and His structures to last, and be able to host His move. The fires may hone us or nations, and in so doing He can restore His people and His nations, and establish His church as the Holy Mountain, and Mount Zion, and bring back the lost children. Draw near to Him, be planted[9] in Him, and His house (not man’s), and flourish in His courts. He sends His angels to minister to you, and bring you help the Holy Spirit fills you with His power and love to stand, and in Him you are found to be His vessels, and builders of His kingdom as you follow His lead, and build the future.
