The lateen, it seems to be such a comforting light. One that is easy to follow, as it speaks of home, and warmth. A special heavenly light was something three wise men were also drawn in to due to its strange, but comforting glow. It was a sign sent from the ages that pointed to the birth of the greatest King. Advent is a good time to reflect on which light we are following. As they say, not all that glitters is gold, and there are things that seek to distract from the path of peace and eternal life. But there is a true Light that leads us to eternity and transformation, and as we earnestly seek Him, by His loving grace He will expose the false lights, and guide us by His presence to our destiny.
When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
(Matthew 2:9-10)
“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
(Revelation 22:16)
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
(John 1:6-9)
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.
(2 Corinthians 11:13-14)
