Below is a prayer, some of it shared during times of intercession in church at the beginning of the month, may it be added to the many prayers raised at this time, and bring encouragement for God’s people.
‘Lord God we come to You in the assurance that You said where two or three agree on earth in what we ask of You our Heavenly Father it will be done for us, knowing as we come together in Jesus’ name He is present with us, and that He is at the right hand of God making intercession for us.
It is written, ‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence…(and)..Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;’
When we hear of the spread of the virus called COVID-19, we recall these Your words in Psalm 91, remembering it truths for us now, and thankful for the protection You provide Your people.
Heavenly Father, we pray that those in leadership in the nations would seek Your wisdom as they confront the rising tide of the Coronavirus COVID-19. We pray for honesty among the nations, and that they would work together to combat this global confrontation.
In the name of Jesus, we thank You Lord that you bind the spirit of fear and silence those voices that hastens it march. We thank you that by the Holy Spirit You would release peace over these troubled waters across the world and work out Your good purposes. Give us eyes to know the bigger picture.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
We see the gods of this world tumbling, those of sports, entertainment, finance, government, and the worship of humanity; the global ambitions of the dragon empire halted; and the scattering of people like the fall of ancient Babel. May people realise their faults, and see afresh the one true God, and know their dependency is to be found in You and not their own abilities.
When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. (Matthew 8:1-2)
During these days of social distancing, and needing to spend more time at home with family, Lord help us to take some inspiration from the butterfly. Where after being cocooned for awhile something beautiful emerges. Help us Lord to cherish these days, refocusing on what is truly important, seek the place of abiding with You the Prince of Peace, really be family, and give love. Thank you Lord God that in all this You are working Your good purpose, including encouraging us to get off the merry-go-round of life, gather together in our homes with family (spiritual and/or natural), and wait on You to be empowered from on high in power, love, and a new soundness of mind. Lord bring a global reset, and restructure, for the church (because it is about being in Your family and not an administration of man), help us to rediscover true love, and be equipped for a new mission. And in it all this, Lord Jesus, thank you that You are giving the earth (and us) a sabbath rest.
Move by Your Spirit upon the church to bring true unity in Christ, and reveal to those in fear the power of true oneness in the true Love. Cause your saints to move out with compassion bringing You and Your word Lord Jesus to heal this sick, and peace. Pour out Your Spirit Lord upon Your people, the we may move with boldness, being a house of faith not fear.
Raise up Your intercessors who would meet with You Lord Jesus in the heavenly places, at our Father’s right hand, making prayers of faith, and in turn forming a canopy of prayer over their regions, bringing a refuge and fortress to their places.
Lord, only You are the true answer to this modern plague, and we thank You that by the power of the blood of Christ, this disease is cleansed from the nations, and brings protection for His people. May the saints, and the nations, come to You in humility, and repent of those sins that have opened the door to such calamity, and You bring a timely end to this pestilence. Thank you for the assurance, that no plague shall come near the places of those who dwell in You.
In the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN.
‘Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long;We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord‘. (Romans 8:35-38)
